Workcamp arrived in
Haiti
A team from Indiana is
in Haiti for a workcamp this week. On
Friday May 9, Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Indianapolis
sent a large group of volunteers to hold mobile clinics throughout the
rural areas of Haiti. The congregation has been in ministry in
Haiti many times before and the group includes many returning
volunteers. The group returns May 17. If you are
intetrested in a future workcamp to Haiti, you may fill out and submit
an application from our
New Trips section.
Please keep the entire team in
prayer as they prepare for this trip; that God would use them to bring
healing and joy to those they encounter, in His name.
Mission; To
spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through a healthcare alliance with
the people of Haiti.
Thank God for the
Sun!!!
If you've ever been to Haiti,
you know that one thing that is never lacking is the heat! The
harsh Haitian sun beats down on the terrain so severely that even the
brick walls retain heat well into the midnight hours. As the sun
beats down on life in Haiti, food and supplies spoil in the heat, for
lack of refrigeration. Lab reagents, chemicals and film
for X-rays need refrigeration to maintain potency in such weather.
For years, Mission Haiti, Inc. - Midwest has been working on a plan to
minimize heat damage and conserve energy use for the hospital.
Now with our first solar powered refrigerator in place, we can
accomplish all of this while harnessing a never-ending resource -the
sun!
The new refrigerator will be
powered by sunlight via solar panels that charge a series of
batteries, for consistent use. This enables us, for the first
time ever, to store sensitive medications, such as vaccines, in the
hospital. We find ourselves, for the first time ever,
thanking God for the sun!
The Game of Life
Game developers at Global Kids,
partnered with Gamelab, have created a fun and entertaining way to
learn about daily life in Haiti.

Mission teams
are booked for the upcoming trip May
9-17. Dates are still being arranged for the Fall trip in
October. If you would like information about an upcoming trip,
please visit our New Trips section, where you can view and print an
application, packing list, and other important information for a
missions trip to Haiti.
Flooding
Your donations throughout the year helped restore homes and livelihood
during a difficult rainy season last year. Thank you, and please
continue to pray for Haiti.
Preparation for disasters such
as these are always part of the ministry of Mission Haiti, Inc.
- Midwest. Because of the time it takes to ship supplies to
Haiti, Mission Haiti, Inc. - Midwest and other ministries in Haiti depend on the availability of
donations already shipped. The
immediate need is great, but donations of clothing, food items, and
basic hygiene and living essentials are always welcome.
Our donations are packed in a semi-trailer and shipped overseas, a
process which takes many months. Some of these donations
supply the hospital, while others support the work of Missionary
Phyllis Newby as she orchestrates relief efforts through the local
churches.
